Meet our Director

Hello. I’m Neil McCutcheon and I’m the Head of Training at ELTeach. I’ve been a CELTA trainer since 2005 and have worked on more than 100 CELTA courses, and DELTA courses too.

I got my own CELTA certificate back in 1997, when the qualification was new, and it took me first to Ghana in West Africa for two years, then to London, where I taught English to asylum seekers and refugees. I lived for several years in Budapest and then in France, and I’ve run CELTAs in many other countries.

This is the kind of journey CELTA can take you on; it’s your passport to the world.

If you search around online, you’ll see a lot of people saying that CELTA is a “boot camp”. It shouldn’t be. It’s simply a teacher training course, not joining the army! We really want you to enjoy your experience at our centre, and get the most you can out of it. If you want CELTA without tears, you’ve come to the right place.

We’ve striven over the years to build courses with the trainees’ needs in mind; we are careful to schedule the input, teaching and days off, with mid-week break for online courses. This means you’ll have plenty of time to get on with your assignments and lesson plans, even if – especially if – you set yourself high standards.

Happy trainees mean better lessons ─ at ELTeach, we know this.

We’re looking forward to welcoming you to our centre in Nottingham as you embark on this (genuinely) exciting step in your new career.
